Practising Law Institute (“PLI”), an innovative leader in legal education programs and services, is searching for a progressive and creative technology professional to fill the role of Web Product Manager. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in IT, along with web technology and product management work experience. PLI’s client base includes a large array of prestigious law firms, corporations and government agencies.

SUMMARY

 

Practising Law Institute (PLI) seeks a Web Product Manager to oversee the daily operation of the PLI website and the implementation of website functionality/enhancements within an Agile environment. Working with senior leadership across the organization, the Manager will actively seek to learn and understand the strategic goals of PLI and the role of the website in maximizing business results, improving customer experience and enhancing PLI’s brand value.  The Manager will also have responsibility for implementing improvements to PLI’s mobile application and expand into the Android market.

In addition, the Manager will play a key role in coordinating and implementing PLI’s website redesign project, scheduled for early 2018.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively collaborates with leadership across departments (Marketing, Membership, Publishing, Programs, IT) to formulate road map and overall strategy to develop website and mobile app.
  • Initiates frequent discussions with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts (SME’s) to discover and validate business and technical requirements, and to obtain content for web and mobile use.
  • Solicits critical feedback such as customer usage, customer behavior or other business metrics, and incorporates into development ideas for website and mobile app.
  • Maintains an ongoing understanding of PLI users, the PLI business, internal technology, and the products (website and mobile) under development, while following Agile methodologies.
  • Collaborate with sprint team to deliver functionality based on user stories; gather requirements from web content providers and communicate with developers to create web updates.
  • Work with UI/UX resources to guide the development of interface standards and ensure that features are delivered in accordance to wireframes and design specifications.
  • Support project management protocol by coordinating communication between development teams and internal stakeholders to address goals and project timelines, assist with development of and attention to budgets, and provide project status reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends.
  • Keeps current with advances in technology and project management strategy by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks; shares knowledge with team.
  • Work with and manage outside vendors, as appropriate.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

 

  • 7+ years of relevant website management and product management experience and knowledge of the most current, innovative website technology required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Design. Marketing or management minor coursework is also useful.
  • Self-starter with a proven track record for taking ownership and driving meaningful results.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong analytical and strategic thinking skills; has the ability to present ideas, updates and requirements effectively.
  • Knowledge of content management systems is critical.
  • Excellent understanding of and experience with web technologies, web design, and user experience.
  • Experience with Agile and SCRUM approach to software/web development strongly preferred.
  • Very comfortable working within a hypothesize-build-measure-learn environment that will focus on delivering incremental value quickly to end-users.
  • Ability to generate data-driven product insights and understands that product decisions must be backed up with data in order to make intelligent decisions.
  • Displays leadership qualities, project management skills and the ability to engage with others to achieve product vision.
  • Working knowledge of web analytics tools, A/B testing and qualitative feedback tools to inform product decisions.
  • Diplomatic with strong listening skills and takes a collaborative approach.
